Hezinger Algaetec was founded in 2007 with the goal to develop and produce installations for the industrial cultivation of microalgae and distributing these worldwide.

The company plans and supplies the entire production chain - from algae cultivation to biomass utilization - as a complete, customized solution. Key components of the installations are the photo bioreactors, which the company develops in-house.

The activities of Hezinger Algaetec base on the increasing demand on renewable energy sources. At the same time we have to be aware, that extracting fuel from growing crops such as raps or oil palms is raising a lot of questions. It is difficult to justify growing crops to produce fuel, and it makes no sense to cut down forests to produce it.

Crops not only convert CO2 to biomass their culturing also causes ecological damage by use of fertilizer, agricultural machinery and transport to processing plants. These methods of biomass production are by no means CO2 neutral or climate-friendly in the overall balance.

Microalgae overcome the issues as easy to culture and very fast-growing organisms. They are efficient at using photosynthesis converting sunlight and CO2 to valuable biomass containing high energy compounds. This can be used in the form of algae-oil, for the extraction of diverse resources for the pharmaceutical-, cosmetic-, and food-industry, but as well for the direct conversion into biodiesel or bio-ethanol.

Hezinger Algaetec has produced an algae-growing process that uses as little artificial energy (e.g. electricity) as possible in the system. The main source of energy for the bioreactors is natural sunlight. This ensures that industrial algae cultivation is cost-effective, environmentally friendly and results in a positive energy balance.

Hezinger Algaetec works closely with well-known biology, light engineering and planning specialists in order to ensure perfect results in the development and production of photo bioreactors.
